2013 Nissan NV200 compact cargo van unveiled at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show

2013 Nissan NV200
Making its North American debut at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show was the Nissan NV200 compact cargo van. Nissan will start selling the smaller utility van in early 2013 after the full-size NV cargo van that arrives at dealerships this spring. Nissan had been trying to find a right-size van to present to the market. Nissan planned for this van, the NV200, to have a low entry point and a low cost of ownership. Presently, the NV200 is available in 40 countries around the globe. The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission had chosen a passenger version to be the Taxi of Tomorrow.
The van is powered with a DOHC, 2.0-liter engine that comes with Nissan's continuously variable transmission. The NV200 has 123 cubic feet of cargo space and it has a relatively small footprint that measures 186.2 inches long and 68.1 inches wide. For the U.S. market, its body was lengthened by almost eight inches and it has a payload rating of 1,500 pounds. Its cargo can accommodate a standard 40-inch-by-48-inch pallet and is offered with floor-mounted cargo hooks and a 12-volt power point. The cockpit gets a six-way adjustable driver's seat with a manual lumbar adjuster and its center console has an area that could be used for laptops, file folders, CDs and beverages.
More storage spaces are found on this instrument panel while the passenger seat could fold down to function as a desktop. Power windows are fitted as standard equipment together with a 12-volt power outlet on the instrument panel. Also offered as standard is a CD player with auxiliary music input and two door-mounted speakers. Two trims -- S and SV -- will be available. The SV model gets heated outside mirrors, power locks, keyless entry, as well as a few other items. Consumers could choose from any of the optional equipment such as: navigation, Bluetooth wireless communications, satellite radio, rearview monitor and prewiring for the Nissan Fleet Tracker.
