Mercedes-Benz decided to unveil the all-new 2013 SL 63 AMG at today’s F1 test session at Barcelona circuit in Spain. The new car will make its debut this summer and as expected it is powered by the twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine delivering 529 hp. With these numbers, the 2013 SL63 AMG can sprint from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.3 seconds, and in just 4.2 seconds when using the AMG Performance Package. The top speed is limited to 250 km/h or 155 mph. The engine is mated to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed Sport Transmission.
The same engine is found on the E63, CLS63, CL63 and ML63 AMG models. The 2013 SL63 AMG promises to return combined fuel consumption savings of up to 30 percent comparing it with the previous model.
Regarding the design, the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG comes with a completely new design consisting of a new front bumper with integrated daytime running LEDS, new side sills, new fenders with the ‘V8 Biturbo’ badge, a new rear apron with integrated air diffuser and exhaust system. The design is completed by the well-known AMG wheels. Just like the standard SL-Class, the SL63 AMG can be transformed from a coupe into a cabriolet in just 20 seconds.
