Ford Tourneo Custom Concept
Ford Motor Co.’s Tourneo Custom Concept will be displayed at the Geneva Motor Show, demonstrating the direction that the Ford Transit’s redesign will go. Many styling features of the Tourneo will be carried over to the light-duty Transit van, which will be offered in Europe and Asia. Ford spokesman Mike Levine said that the light- and heavy-duty Transit in Europe "look almost identical.” Levine said that the styling between the one-ton, light-duty version and the two-ton, heavy-duty version would be “very different.” He added that both production models would be unveiled this year.
“A luxurious carlike interior" is featured on the front-wheel-drive Tourneo concept. Its seats are hand-stitched and are trimmed with leather. They also have cloth inserts. Levine claims that Ford won’t make the light-duty Transit available in the United States. Last year, Ford said that the redesigned heavy-duty Transit would be assembled and sold in the U.S. starting in 2013. This will later replace the Ford E series. The two Transit models are developed on Ford's new global van platform, which is built for FWD and rear-wheel-drive applications. RWD will be available on the heavy-duty U.S. model.

The Tourneo Custom’s car-like qualities will be appreciated by a broad range of business and leisure customers, and this is a fitting venue to present the vehicle for the first time.”
